I'm on my favourite mountain, Tryfan, in Snowdonia North Wales. It's the only mountain here that you can't walk up, hands have to be used in several places, no matter which way you go. The road is the A5 from London to Holyhead, nearly 3,000 feet below.

I believe this hypothesis will be so satisfactorily well proven in March to elevate it to a theory if not a full blown law of physics.Andy Hardman wrote:I believe there are pavements just like that in Bath on a Saturday night !Kev Bailey wrote: It's the only mountain here that you can't walk up, hands have to be used in several places, no matter which way you go. .

Just to bring this up to date, I'm still on Tryfan but in warmer weather and nearer the top.

Hi Morea,
I'd better clear that one up pronto! The Bitches are a whitewater playground in South Wales, that I've not been to.
I think you may be confusing it with the Swellies on the Menai straits where I (stupidly) learned to canoe. A flat lake would've been much more sensible but infinitely less fun! It's notable for its difficulty in safely navigating its shoals and rocks due to the whirlpools and surges that result from the double tides washing around the island of Anglesey at different speeds.
No photo's were taken, unfortunately.

I have paddled "The Bitches" off Ramsey Island... amazing race of water, the world white water rodeo championships took place in 1991... I was there!
