Soil ratio
I live in south Louisiana, a very wet and humid climate. I have traditionally potted with sifted Haydite and Pine Bark Mulch. 50/50 for deciduous and 60 haydite/40 pbm for evergreens. This year, I am adding Akadama and a small amount of charcoal. I would rather not add any more ingredients. What ratio would you use for Jap. black pine? What ratio for junipers?
Thanks,
Boyd

Re: Soil ratio
Howzit Boyd,
I don't know if this helps any but with my JBP I use two parts Akadama to one part Pine Fir, one part Volcanic Cinder and/or Adsorbent. (for oil spills) For me it works out just fine. I get good grange but you need to keep an eye on the soil because it dose dry-out fast until you get the hang of it. For junipers about the same.
Aloha,
-Tim
