one of my first juniperus glauca
This is one of the first attempts from me to start from scratch witch i want to share.
I am hit with the virus since 4 years now. To build up some knowledge I visit the bonsai school of
Mr Theunis Jan Klein (deshima bonsai holland) sometimes.
He has in my opinion some nice trees and a good stock of pre bonsai.
I never had any thorough lessons though some good help from friend and bonsai enthusiast Erik Sanders.
For me bonsai lies in good proportion and balance; these things I learned throughout my job
and in my opinion you have or you don't. (blehh)
Internet fora are also nice knowledge providers!
The tree: approximately 60 year old pruning tree from a a breeder who has used it for cuttings.
I bought it in 2006 first 2 pictures
After one day of discussing the tree and with some help.
rough idea
After this I took it home,

Re: one of my first juniperus glauca
Hi! Folks....more of the story and some pictures.
As 2009 was a year of hard work the tree could thrive and do its best.
I pruned it little in lack of time to do more.
Did a lot of dead wood carving in fall where time was on my hands again.
Short after the Noelanders trophy my hands where itching to work on it again.....
I took the tree indoors it was freezing up here (and where wasn't it at this side of the globe)
It took several days to defrost outside -5 inside +4.
Finaly i could work on it after 5 day's.....
After severe pruning
Few weeks later, and borrowing a nice mr Pitt-special
Nice nebari has been found in the black sands of darknes
the tree,....me like!
As for now new decisions come up,.......
Last two pictures..............................
first one front or second one?
advice would be welcome!
And yes it's hollow now......

Re: one of my first juniperus glauca
I really like the reduction of the deadwood. Much more natural and leaning more towards yamadori than nursery stock. Did you create the carving yourself? The top of the deadwood could be refined some more though. I like the picture with the tree leaning to the left.

Thank you Will!
The deadwood at the top wil be reduced.
Some of the dead wood i did years ago to produce age (miner things)
The rest of the deadwood i did last year,....as in my trees choices are discussed among
friends decisions are done by me.
Dead wood needs refining though,....my puristic sick mind is never ready.
Keeps me of the street late at night

Re: one of my first juniperus glauca
Wonderful work! Although it looks equally good from either side, I agree with Will on the second pic for the front. I like the way the nebari marches out boldly towards you and although it's frame is bent with age the tree holds itself proudly erect. In the first pic the nebari is rather introverted and shy and the whole shifts uncertainly to the right, geeze, reminds me of my sister. Ah, come on! She knows I love her. Someday I'll have trees like this, meanwhile, I can only envy.

hey machiel,
you now my choice,it,s the second one.
i think on the first picture the tree is a bit stiff on the left side.
and in the second one is music.
so great development

@ andy,.......stil call it a pitt, special them rounds and curves make it as pot indecent to be to good (the artist speaks as (a potter to be, dream)) in reality eric and i made it fit!
As artist in bonsai somewhere, i find it hard to buy a pot for a tree,......there you work for a goal...seek a pot.....

Don't read or understand me wrong an for assure mr the brave john pitt....as an artist ........it thrives!
Please more answers on development,....can say moves on last picture are good for me,....foiledge there is loads of work to that.
