Hi Paulo,

It seems you are not trying the easiest, classic species Laughing Verbena officinalis is a particularly interesting, and daring attempt.

Judging from the species and the landscape, you must leave in the Mediterranean area, or at leat in "Pays d'Oc": there must be Buxus, Quercus or Montpellier maples there too, and they can make very nice bonsai.

PS: in your location you could perhaps mention a region or a big city, like "France, near Montpellier", or "France, near Castelnaudary" (Castel is a big city since it's the only place for a reall good cassoulet Razz )

paul... the first picture you identify as a fig and it is incredible that you found it already growing on and clasping the rock...

great find !

you refer to the tree as a ficus, but i have never seen one with that type of leaf shape...
(i am just a 5 year novice though)...

the leaf shape almost looks oak-ish and alain mentioned quercus being prevalent in your area...
i can not help but wonder if that might not be an oak... scratch

if so, i think that may be even better than a fig !

It's Ficus carica, European wild fig.
