the 2nd one grow alot of shoots and i removed mostly off and repot + rewired it.

I always let these dry out when I make them this small. Then they die

yea they dry out very easily, in fact tis small, you dont have to let them hav full day direct sun, 3-5hrs direct strong sun will do, rest of day bright day, now I'm keeping indoor, since my side sun direction changed, so basking them in t8 lights for time being til sun shifts back then I shift out. You can try a soil mix more water retaining, else put the whole mame into a bigger pot filled with gravels/aggregate. It can help to keep the pot cool and make it moist ?
I killed a lot ! lol I still remember when when they are these small and I left out in the open. At night when I came back home, to find that the soil was really dried out and the plant not as established as the adult, they cant pull thru, and its such a pain.
