Collected Japanese Maple
In the last years I seldom do much collecting. I have more than enough trees and do not have the time to dig up material. However, a week ago a relative of mine told me that one of his neighbors wanted to get rid of a Japanese Maple that had been in the ground for over 20 years. The reason - they.were renovating their house and the tree was in the way. I decided to take a look. After one look we began to dig. Having gone down more than a foot we were unable to budge the tree. Fortunately, the builder was due to come with a backhoe and agreed to remove the tree. After transporting to my house and removing much of the clay around the root ball the tree was transplanted in a large wooden box. I apologize for the image but I have had to place the tree where it is protected and can be wintered. Enjoy. Hank
