I like very much the post of your figs before and after defoliation. Foliage often hides a lot of sins.
In the case of your retusa - which is a very nice tree - I have a few suggestions which you might like to consider. In my opinion the tree has 2 apexes.
I would remove the one at the left ( see image below) . The remaining branches on lower left hand side can be re-wired to form the lower branch. The other apex has very nice taper and could be bent fo the left as indicted. Lastly I would make the tree a bit more compact by cutting back the remaining foliage as indicated. Regards Hank
