Beautiful, very natural and balance, the depth of the pot is perfect. Spring colors bringing out the great contrast for the aged bark. Don't know what is exactly the structure of branches on the right because of the leaves, but if slide the tree about 1 inch to the right to give the long branch on the left a little more room for better composition, i only see in two dementions and could be completely wrong. Very well done, thanks for sharing.

I love this tree... sweet. I think a longer pot (keeping the same shallowness) and a lighter glaze will increase the grade of this tree. Something with patina will really compliment the bark.

what incredible color!!! wow.
I have an Arakawa, that occasionally will have a small section be that vivid, but so far never the whole tree like that. Beautiful. Some years mine is mostly yellow, some years more orange & red. I love the year to year variations.
your comment about long internodes is a problem I have with mine also. I see you have largely remedied the issue. I need to keep working on that.
Well done.

a largest pot on the side of the empty space will be better for me

the maples trees often needs two pots with differents colors , blue in autumn, beige pot for the others seasons when the leaves are green

Fall colors are different every year.... 2015 brought a very super red color in most of my maples.
I think it's the ammount of sunshine in combination with the soft fall temperatures that makes the color.
abcd..your pot is much better....i'll have to change the small pot in spring
Thx for the nice comments..

Hi, Dirk
Some years i do, some years i don't and let shoots grow longer before cutting them . Sometimes i only pinch the outer shoots en let inner shoots grow free until early summer. In the fall I make a selection of the smallest internodes to keep.
best regards

Thanks for the info. I'm new to this species and i'm amazed of the growing speed of those things... Whatever you do, you do it right...
