A Chance To Help Out The IBC AND Win A Dale Cochoy Pot
I am going to auction off this pot right here to benefit the IBC. The auction will run two weeks until November 11th, Wednesday at midnight here in Ohio, USA.
Some of you might remember when I did this here a few years back and the pot was won by the late Bart Thomas .
I will ship the pot FREE to anyone in the USA upon IBC receipt of the winning bid. Folks out of the USA are welcome to bid but you would be responsible for the shipping.
You can post your bids right here on this thread. Lets just start at $25.
This pot is COMPLETELY hand-made, wheel thrown and altered. The 'Bamboo' was formed and applied by hand randomly around the entire pot. No molds of any kind were used on this pot. The clay is unglazed brown stoneware with an oxide highlight. This is a one-off pot of my own design.
Measurements are:
Height 4 1/2 inches (11.43cm)
Width 7 inches ( 17.78cm)
Good luck, and remember, you are supporting the IBC and shipping is FREE!

Things are moving along pretty good so far.
One of the important things to check when evaluating the quality of a hand-made pot is the finish/trimming of the bottom. If you ever watch a potter look at another potters work one of the first things he'll do is check the bottom. It tells a lot about the potter. Try it sometime.
Here is this pots bottom.

Dale 'Bootylicious' Cochoy has more of a ring to it, don't you think?
EDIT: I'd just like to add that I think that there are two great ideas in motion here. The first is to create a dedicated pot site alongside the forum, and second, what a brilliant way to raise funds!

I held this pot (or one just like it) at the Bonsai Expo in Asheville, NC a few weeks ago. I nearly bought it but had already purchased 2 others from Dale. Whoever places the winning bid is going to be very happy!

Antonio,
I yield to a friend in bonsai "down under". If your bid holds, please promise to send a photo of it with a tree. I have several of Dale's pots, and Irene is right...they are special. Must be that Akron water, right Dale ?
