Peter Tea is visiting our local bonsai club tomorrow!
I am stoked.
"The Austin Bonsai Society is very fortunate to be hosting Peter Tea of San Jose, CA as a visiting artist on WED SEP 10th at the Zilker Garden Center starting at 7pm. The tree material for this demonstration/lecture will be a collected native, Texas Persimmon, with beautiful trunk flare, extensive foliage, and taper. It will be raffled to one lucky person at the end of the evening.
This is of course free to ABS members, but we are requesting a $5.00 donation from non-members for this lecture/demo. Plan to attend, it should be a wonderful time!

Post before and after pictures of the TX persimmon please. You will enjoy Peter Tea, a good speaker, teacher and a really pleasant person. Wish I was a little closer so I could have dropped in.

Re: Peter Tea is visiting our local bonsai club tomorrow!
He mostly did lectures...a great one. He taught the basics and how it should drive our decisions in everything we do in bonsai. A master plan if you will to attain the vision. I love his approach and the way he presented it. Nothing new but he packaged it very well for those who are not getting it yet.
Re: the tree, he just chopped & and thinned it a bit...no time to do what he wants to do and the tree is not ready for major styling (as nice as it is). He actually had difficulty sawing the trunk (using a small saw) so I volunteered to do it...done easily. He discussed his vision for it and left it to the winner to style. Someone jokingly said he should come back next year to finish it...I hope he does.
It was a good night.
