Bonsai from weeds

These Privets come up all over my garden as weeds seeded by birds. I dug this one about six years ago and its starting to look nice.

Seems like most privets just grow from a clump of straight and narrow trunks but a few do seem to develop some character. I dug this one from the yard a year ago - still has a long way to go before it looks as nice as yours.

That's awesome. I have a large privet bush (single trunk) in my yard that I think I will uproot this spring for bonsai.
