Advise for repotting...

Hi all!
i attached a before and after photo of my plant. i'm just wondering if i pruned it right.
i'm also perplexed with the roots as they are growing in all sorts of ways.
i got this plant from a friend who says its two years old. in that case, should i be thinking bout repotting it soon?
any comments, advise, violent reactions welcome! :}

For me as of now no need,still more rooms to grow.its a bit overpotted as far i see,,keep on asking friend..many will help
