Recommendations to purchase online.
Hello everyone,
I am fairly acquainted to bonsai and have been through the forums previously but never needed to post any questions that I have not found the answer to. As the title of the post states I am looking at the option to purchase a new tree online, a brazilian raintree specifically. I cannot find one that catches my eye in the area I live. There are some places I can drive a bit farther to but wanted to do some research on the possibility of getting something online before I spend the time doing that. I appreciate any feedback.
Thanks, John

One of our Milwaukee WI members ordered a really nice Brazilian Rain Tree from a grower in Puerto Rico, when I see her next meeting, I'll ask her from whom she bought it. Because Puerto Rico is part of the USA none of the importing issues one would have to deal with if you were importing from outside the USA.

I would disagree with the statement "Because Puerto Rico is part of the USA none of the importing issues one would have to deal with if you were importing from outside the USA." As between many states there are restriction for importing fruit, plants, and even soil from Puerto Rico into the contentinal US. Here is a USDA Manual for reference. When in doubt become more confused with the many overlaping US and state government agencies and their conflicting regulations.

Definitely try Meehan's Miniatures in Maryland, Washington County. They have many tropicals including BRT. Take a day trip and visit. (Figure it's about 15 miles west of Frederick, MD.) Great place and the owners, Martha and Hugh are super people.
Online at meehansminiatures.com.

Augustine
