Hawthorn Progression

I got a small hawthorn from a garden centre this time last year from the cheap sale area, so have started a progression series ....

















Next I need to do address the thick top of the trunk and create some taper at the apex. Maybe remove that top section completely and find a new branch to bend up.

I have a habit of leaving things for too long though and then wish i'd made a change sooner! But I quite like the overall shape at the moment so have left it for now.

Did you remove those awkward roots at re-potting or just bury them a bit deeper?
