one of my first...
my first root over rock (and one of my first trees from a couple years ago):
before:
first potting:
last potting:
(i eventually made the pot specifically for this tree)
and finally w/ a little more deadwood...
not very good, but just like sex, the first one is never as good as expected or hoped for
learned alot since then though...

Actually, not bad at all. A little water in the lower half faintly tinged with blue food dye and . . .

thanx jim... it doesnt show well in the photos, but the lower half glaze is tinged blueish green to "suggest" water without hitting the viewer over the head with it like a water dish might...
its been about a year since the last photo and the roots are coming around nicely
(after i made a better soil/moss route for them on the front side.)

right on doug...
my problem was that i didnt know what the rules were
(but i knew i wanted to break them)
ironically, of the first things i learned in my novice classes is that i can break the rules, as long as i know what the rules are...
(and a shout out to ron fortmann of the milwaukee bonsai society... awesome teacher in these novice classes !!!)
