Bonsai places in the San Jose/ San Francisco, CA areas?
Can anyone recommend any bonsai nurseries to visit and buy from in the San Jose/ San Francisco, California areas? I've seen Grove Way Bonsai Nursery on yelp and want to go. Has anyone been there?

Hello D-Ho – I have been to Grove Way too many times… I stay away now to protect my pocket book! Johnny Uchida is a treasure in the community!
There are many bonsai resources in the greater SF Bay Area, but you will have to be willing to travel a bit to see most. Many of the urban center bonsai establishments have fallen victim to high rents and limited spaces and have consequently relocated (or simply established themselves) in outlying areas etc.
In the interest of not reinventing the wheel here are a few links that may prove helpful (I am certain that many more responses to add to this will be forthcoming):
The Golden State Bonsai Federation website for the collection at Lake Merritt in Oakland is: http://www.gsbf-bonsai.org/lake-merritt/
The Bonsai Society of San Francisco’s buying guide is: http://www.bssf.org/guides/vendors/
The Redwood Empire Bonsai Society’s links page is: http://www.rebsbonsai.org/links_page.html
The Bay Island Bonsai webpage link is: http://bayislandbonsai.com/
The Golden State Bonsai Federation shoppers guide is: http://www.gsbf-bonsai.org/bonsai-shopper/ But please note this one is state-wide so you’ll have to do a little investigation on Google maps…
I truly hope you enjoy your visit to our neck of the woods! (We’re still in the middle of a very serious drought – but at least at my home we got about 20 inches of rain in the last three days – Hooray!)
