Re: Ad banners now appearing
Guys, the ads have appeared because we accidentally missed a deadline for paying the annual fee to have them removed. Please do bear in mind that even moderators are human (it's true, honestly ) and are the victims of all the travails of human life - some of them not pleasant. Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience and our assurances that we are on the case and the situation will be remedied as soon as (humanly ) possible.

Wait a minute. There are no dues and no requests for donations in IBC. Who is paying this annual fee?

Re: Ad banners now appearing
Thanks for your concern Iris, but if you remember a year or two back we held pot auctions to raise the funds. Thanks to our generous potters who donated items and to our equally generous bidders, we raised enough to keep IBC afloat for a few years yet. Thanks are also due to a number of very kind members who made private donations outside of the pot auctions.

Hmmm. Ads are SO ubiquitous these days that I wonder that anyone even notices them. I was somewhere the other day and even found an ad on the back of a restroom stall door.

And dear members don't believe that rumour that goes around, Fiona is not embezzling the ad money to buy new tyres for her bike, no no no, this is just defamatory.
Seriously, thanks to the team that help maintain this site

Re: Ad banners now appearing
in all honesty the little ad banner isn't really that bad - taking up monitor space not really an issue either as it disappeares off the top as you scroll down the topic. some of my ads are quite useful as they are based on the cookies stored from my online shopping and searches too.
i'm easy either way whether they stay or go

Moderators and Admin don't see the ads at all, which is why we are grateful for first Yvonne then others for drawing them to our attention.
The situation will be rememdied as soon as possible.

The video ads on my Live Stream eagle nest cam drove me to find a way stop them. I installed a free Adblock Plus for Firefox !
https://adblockplus.org/en/firefox
Since then no pop-ups or ads nor banners on IBC!! Why pay when you can get it for nothing! I haven't researched other browsers but I bet they also have some form of adblock!
Good luck..
