Needle Plucking
Hi, I have a P.strobus and was wondering if it would be to late in the season to pluck some needles from the apex and any overly strong areas. Thanks everyone!

I would think not. I'm assuming it has not gone below freezing significantly in you area.

Needle plucking is important to pines. It allows sunlight into the inner regions of the tree in order to encourage bud growth and development. These inner buds are the future of your tree. It also allows for the balancing of energy away from the super growth areas to the weaker growth areas. Look at your tree from the top, you should be able to see all the way through it.chadley999 wrote:Yeah i believe we only had frost once so far, but it is 16 C today!
