Since I've not had this happen before, I'm going to document the buds-flowers-fruit on my little (7-inch) shohin Pyracantha. It had orange berries when I got it as a much larger plant. So, watch this space.

We have flowers now.

Jackie calls this one my "topiary tree." I'll have to do something about it after I have thinned the berries.

Jim, don't do any overhead watering while it's blooming.

Here's a pic of one of mine blooming this year. I collected this and some others a few years ago, from a shopping mall. They were planted in the 1960's.

Too late. We had 3.5 inches of rain yesterday afternoon and night. <g>

These blooms seemed to last "strong" for about a week... and then fade. Do you know what color your berries will be?

Todd and Jim,
Very nice trees. I really like these. Sweet.

I saw Todd's in person, and its even better in person. It wasn't in bloom then, but the tree is quite nice.

Thanks, Leo. I do like Pyracantha. They are becoming something of a pest aound here. Birds love the fruits (they get drunk as skunks on them) and the seeds get dropped everywhere. I have a "variety" growing here and there on my property with very small leaves. I have several shohin-size growing in small pots. We'll see how they turn out.
