Ficus religiosa

For a living I frequently work with F. repens, other Ficus and small potplants at a greenhouse but I don't know anything about bonsai. Would it be possible for me to grow F. religiosa and/or F. benghalensis in my home (in a terrarium) as bonsai by just tying down branches for shaping and pinching back new leaf buds to maintain shape, reduce leaf size and thicken foliage. Personal convictions about non-violence would prevent me from cutting anything. How would I go about it
