quercus robur air layering
I noticed a very nice quercus near my place (in France). unfortunately there is no way I could ever collect this tree in a conventional way (I checked a bit, the roots dig deep in a huge stone...).
I read many times that air layering an oak is quite tricky. some people seems to be more succesfull than others. do you know any tricks that would help me?
for now I was thinking about strangling the tree with some wire for a year or two, and then, air layer the tree on the new bark.
it's a 3 years process at least, but I am not in a hurry with this tree
