Nice tree. The aluminum foil screams "Nick had something to do with this tree".
Interesting pot but I'm not sure it is the best one for the tree. I don't think that colour will provide enough contrast with the fall foliage. Highlighting the fall foliage is important (to me) when choosing a pot for a tamarack. Has Nick seen the pot?
Just my thoughts. Keep us posted please.

no nick hasn't seen this pot he'll see it in a couple if weeks when i go to see him i'm more than sure he's not going to agree but when we were working on the tree i went to the barn to see if he had any good pot for it and as nick has stopped making pots the choosing was limited and he had the right pot color but not the right size he wanted to use something like this but smaller

pot for larix
Brown color , an dark colors generally are the best for larix, with a lighter color, we will see only the pot.
