Another Master Passes

Word comes from Mike and Ardie Apostolos of the Phoenix Bonsai Society that Mas Ishii of Chikugo-En Bonsai Nursery, Gardena, CA has passed away this week. Mas was one of the Masters of grafting Shimpaku's and developed his technique over the years. Our condolences go out to the Ishii Family. The funeral will be on Monday, March 11 in Gardena.

I had the pleasure of visiting their nursery and meeting them while in LA before heading to Japan in 1985. A very generous and gracious man.

I also had the great pleasure of meeting Mas 2 yrs ago. He was a wonderful man and true master.
