Bonsai Society or Limited Company?
Has any Bonsai Club here gone down the route of becoming a Limited Company, even though they have Public Liability Insurance?

Our Bonsai Club in Melbourne, Fl is part of the Bonsai Societies of Florida which is a not for profit corporation in the state of Florida, and covered by their insurance.

Thanks Billy, I was forgetting that this was an International forum. My club, here in the U.K. is a member of FoBBS and use their insurance. However, one of our Committee members is worried that it is not enough and he may be sued and end up losing his house!

I think if your committee member is that concerned he should seek out his own insurance. In the US he could get a rider on his homeowners insurance (which here already contains some coverage for liability) that increases his coverage to an amount he is comfortable with. There is really no escape from personal liability if you are negligent even as a LLC or Corporation.
