That's some pretty nice work you have accomplished with those pictured trees that have compound (pinnate) leaves. Unfortunately, I've seen a lot of nice tree material dismissed out of hand, simply because of that pinnate leaf growth pattern. Good bonsai work well and incorporate what is best in the tree to their best advantage. And what the heck.... a thick trunk, 'killer' root base and decent taper can make for a very powerful bonsai tree - no matter the specifics of leaf type.
- Though admittedly, single leaf tree types with pie plate sized leaves, are pretty much a non-starter for bonsai..... Rolling Eyes

Very nice trees!

Funnily.. The one you say needs a lot of work (THe nob thorn) I like best of the batch! It looks like it is off to a great start as a tipical solitary savannah acacia..

Wow, another Acacia lover. , who new? ( Sorry Iris, I still cannot bring myself to use the word Vachellia yet. What do you think Joe, whould you call your Acacias by any other name. Will you say in the furture, "Lets have a look at my Vachellias". I DONT THINK SO.) They ( I still dont know who 'They' are.) have change the South African Acacias into groups of Vachellia and Senegalia. For instance your lovely Fever Tree is now Vachellia xanthophloea, whereas your Black Monkey thorn is now Senegalia burkei......... rediculous. Only Australia are allowed to use the word Acacia!

So, Joe, I think you Acacias are stunning.
Also love the Knob thorn the best. Will make a good Pierneef.
