Hey all, my neighbor was kind enough to let me take a cutting from one of his landscape plants, but neither he nor I know exactly what it is called. The mature leaves have a dark green center and a light green edge. You can see this starting to develop in some of the leaves in the picture. I suspect it is the variegated form of something but I have no idea what. Any guesses?

Hi its Chris
Your not telling us where you are what size the leaves are, if it flowers, if its evergreen etc.
Ceonothus maybe a starting point, but give us more info

Oh sorry, It doesn't have much in the way of flowers, and the leaves are about an inch long. The one he has has a shrubby, trailing habit. It seems to grow outward and downward more than upwards. The mature bark is silvery grey. I'm not sure if it is evergreen, but I can't really recall seeing it without leaves so it might be. Here's a picture of the plant the cutting came from.

Hello Bran,

Chris hit this one on the nose. Your cutting is Ceanothus griseus 'Diamond Heights,' the common name is Carmel Ceanothus.

I hope it takes for you,
David Brunner
