Hi Trantanhung
To me is a watered or dry raw stone right, for a suiban with water.
If you want a oiled stone, or a rubbed to sheen stone, in a suiban, does the sand have to be dry.
A oiled stone in a water suiban, is wrong.
Kind regards yvonne

Hello.
Thank you for your post.
You show us nice stones with the possibility to become of suiseki quality if they had developed a good yoseki.
I know you have your own viewing stone appreciation in your country and you study now Japanese suiseki style as well,
therefor the following thoughts if permitted;
Using oil is for me painful to see on such nice stones because the possibility of becoming a good yoseki is lost or almost impossible.
OIl gives a quick and apparent success it seems, (because you asked about this in earlier post i mention this), i feel oiling offers a shallow result, the character of a stone is not revealed.
(oiling or waxing is done for example on stone floors for a glossy appearance and sealing against penetrating dirt)
For viewing stones there is next to dry, water or oil a more refined way; --suiseki is all about he process of yoseki-- (Martin Pauli).
I feel if you would take up the challenge with yourself and discover the process of yoseki this would deepen your stone appreciation.
Even the natural oil on the hand should be avoided because it hinders the process certainly at the beginning-cleaning
(Of cours in Japan there are other practices as well (oiling, cutting, altering leading to production of suiseki images as a nice interior piece)
but this i consider is not in the same realm as the refined tea practice.
Another thing if permitted, your experimental settings you show us so nicely in the white sand-water tray, to cheque the possibilities of a stone, would be much more evoking if the sand level would be a bit higher, almost to the rim of the tray.
I made you a virtual on this, (i think Harrya mentioned this effect as well).
regards, Sunip
