What a bonsai this could make -- I wish!

This is a scarlet oak, Quercus coccinea. Oh how I wish the leaves could reduce! All other members of the red oak family around this place have ugly brown leaves at this time of year.

Beautiful shape of the leaf...also very nice color and the leathery surface makes it tough - well, there are some things we have to let go.
Did you try to tame anyone of those?

No. Lots of small ones in the woods around me, but taming one of these would be like spitting into the wind. I have other things to do. So I'll just wish.
