Thanks Russell ..I am keen to learn more about this potter.
To be honest, technically this is Ritta's pot (my wife), as she bought it whilst we were in Japan. It's a good size for shitakusa (small accent planting).

Re: Hanko ID ?
I think this pot was made in Gunma prefecture where Takako is based in.
As you mention, this is a modern pot but Takako Ishikawa has high reputation as she has been awarded many prizes.
And yes, this potter is a woman.
Ms.Takako Ishikawa's profile is as follows:
1976 Graduated Bunka Jyoshi University pottery course
1986 Awarded Maebashi-city mayor's prize for the citizen's exhibition and qualified for an exemption of examination when displaying her works at the exhibition
Started her pottery class at home
1995 Pottery lecturer at Itoyoukado cultural center for10 years
1996 Member of Zentoten and Gunma art & culture association
Pottery lecturer of Hitachi Ltd. Takasaki branch
1999 Awarded Zentoten encouraging prize
2000 Awarded Zentoten Shimizu prize
2001 Member of Maebashi citizen's exhibition
Awarded Gunma TV prize at Gunma prefecture exhibition
Started making bonsai pots
2002 Awarded Zentoten member excellence prize and recommended as a director
2003 Featured in a "Bonsai Sekai "magazine for 6pages
2004 Awarded Zentoten grand prize
2005 Councillor of Zentoten
