transending the higher levels of patience
Bonsai teaches you patience they say..........and while doing the many bonsai related tasks you usually have plenty of time to consider life, the universe and everything............
i think today new levels were reached................enter my half kilo of 0.8mm copper wire...................
today it rained,,,,,,,,,,,,a lot,,,,,,,,,,,,and there were back to back 'pawn stars' on Sky TV................................and a good few hours and a totally clear mind later I got this..................
the moral is never just keep tugging at ends of fine copper wire - or making new ends when you lose the original
peace and tranquility fellow grasshoppers

Re: transending the higher levels of patience
Great job Marcus! Just seeing the results you have is calming! I have a snarl-ball of thin aluminum wire in nearly the same state that someday I'll tackle too. One thing though.. did you find that the copper work-hardened after all the pulling, bending and straightening, getting those kinks out? If it is, I suppose it could be re-annealed.

Marcus,
patience is for doing things that you do not like to do.
I doubt Bonsai or any of it's aspects fits into that category,------------- at least for me -
By the way a jeweller friend can melt that mass of copper and draw out the wire into any thickness that you might like it, in just two shakes of a duck's tail.
No need to untangle.
Best to you.

Re: transending the higher levels of patience
Haha, thanks friends...great comments
how does it tangle? - 0.8mm is thin stuff and the end was lost many times - so the rushing 'apprentice' in me used to cut and pull new ends - then friends would ask for a few meters so i'd pull all the harder to get them a length, then it was left in the garden work area for a year or so
because it was really thin it didnt work harden to any noticable degree - if anything 0.8 needs a little stiffening to hold better as the growing branches can raise the wired sections - it is my main guy wire size tbo.
Pawn stars....."hi I'm Rick etc etc" - lets fire some huge guns/canons/etc........haha - the history lessons are actually quite interesting though.
Khaimraj - that sounds excelent - I could save all the same wire when it is cut off and have it made new again - there must be nearly 10kg on all my trees at the moment and yes i am with you - all bonsai 'work' is a pleasure for me too, it is a great time to think and relax.
cheers Marcus

I just got to ask and then I'll leave it alone. Did you create that mess on purpose?

i just recently stripped and annealed over 550 ft of all different gauge copper wire. a tedious task i must say but very rewarding. i saved myself alotttttt of money by collecting excess wire from work

No - dragging the knotted up lump of wire around the coutry for 18 months created the mess, while trying to pull lengths out of it if friends needed some. A kilo of Fine copper has a mind of its own.
