White Fir help
While recovering from heart by-pass surgery i have started a mission to put together all of my tree info and notes in a central notebook. As a get well gift I received 4 white fir trees that were on closeout at a garden center. They have 1 inch trunks, are 18" above pot level, are potbound in are currently in one gallon nursery pots. I have very little information on them and many of my resources either don't mention them or generally refer to other species, pinus or picea. I would like any information anyone can give me for the future. Thanks again David

White Fir
White fir is Abies concolor. It is used for bonsai. You can Google for more information.

Re: White Fir help
Thanks Iris, but I would like to know who has used a white fir for bonsai and any nuances or tips regarding these trees.

Re: White Fir help
I've had most of my concolor experience as a christmas tree. I'm guessing they'd look great in a chokkan/upright style. As far as behavior, I've heard that they have difficulty dealing with fungal infections but otherwise I'd treat them the same way I would a spruce. The citrus fragrance is also an awesome attribute they have.
