pemphis and insecticide
i,v got some small ants running around on my pemphis and i wanted to know if they are tollerant to insect spray or not . i have sprayed it with salt water to see if that discourages them but did not want to use anything else in case they do not like it . hope someone can advise. i think i am being over cautious because i have just killed 5 of the gassiow that i play with because i used chemical fertilizer only to find out that they do not like it..ouch!!!! regards john

Hi John.
...just saw this question late. I hope the ants are done partying in your Phempis pot...if they are still there try to find organic pesticide/insecticide...Sometimes soaps work as well. chemical fertilizer is the best but be sure to wash it down with running water once the job is done...I mean lots of time with running water.
I saw some people here combine soap and chili.

jun

Hi John, ants are creatures of industry and if they are in your tree there is usually something attracting them. If you remove what is attracting them they will go away. Inspect your tree using a magnifying glass. Look especially underside of leaves and bottom of stems and branches. Follow the ants and they will show you what they are there for. Ants rarely go up a tree just to look around. If they are there they are working. Good luck. Rick

I know absolutely NOTHING about Pemphis sp. but I would think that salt water would do more damage than whatever it is the ants are playing with would do.
