Oles Camp with Will Baddeley
Finaly is the weekend with Will about to arrive.....I am looking very much forward to meet Will, and to see my danish friends again, there will be a lot to talk about.
Oles Camp is a fairly big event , held every second year, and is located on Sealand, Ole has a big bonsaishop, and together with Jens Joergen is he a great host. ...there will be an exhibition, and Will will demonstrate saturday, and sunday will he be in the workshop....THIS, I am looking forward to.
I bring this craetegus yamadori I dug up in the winter 2011
After I took the photo, did I decide to cut it back to the red line.
The two green lines is showing vere I wish Will will help, and guide me through the deadwood work.
There is also deadwood on the backside, and good ideas/advise will be welcome.....
This is me and my tree ready to go
Already last year did I prepare the 2 deadwood spots, and selected shots has grown into branches.....
See some of you very soon
Kind regards Yvonne

Beautiful find, Auntie,
and I hope you keep showing the tree as time passes.
Like how you use the large pots.
Alas, apart from the Fustic, it would be rare to find anything with that quality on my side. Envy, envy.
Love the fairytale house as well.
Stay Well and enjoy the get together. Say hello to Lord Will for me please.

Re: Oles Camp with Will Baddeley
Hi nephew
I hope, I will be able to show a "wild" natural tree...I am not used to big yamadori trees, and they must be cared for, in much diffrent way than the small "japanese" shohin and kifu I am used to work with....The teckink for western ( big) trees, is much diffrent from what I have been doing the last 20 years....I found out already last year.
About the big pot....My plan is to find some square plasticpots for the 3 big ones...They are not that heavy, and my husband likes to help me when ever I ask. He and my son carry them for me when needed. I can turn the pots without help......I am not going to find more.....8 big trees are enough.
If the trees eventully becomes worth showing, will I find a really nice pots for them.
The house comes with my husbands job. We have lived here for more than 30 years. We do not complain...but when my husband finaly goes on pension, will we have the boot.
Kind regards Yvonne....I say hallo from you

Re: Oles Camp with Will Baddeley
Two more photos from Oles event
Only a few, as Peter has posted a lot already
It is Ole to the left, and the artsist Per, Who created this very nice trophy....Granit, steel, and a woodbase. This one is for the big bonsai, a smaller for shohin became mine, it was my Ulmus who won best shohin, and also won " publics favorite"
This Sagu Kangu is one of mine trees....It used to be a informal upright untill it had a severe fungus ....in 2005 did it have its first year as a broom. It is not my best tree, but the collor of the leaves are nice right now.
In the Workshop with Will, did we work pretty hard all of us....
This is how my tree looked back home again...Will finished detail on the low part of the trunk. And two prepared homework for me.
Wills work
I hope to do a decent job on this....started up today, in a day or two will I maybe show photos.
Kind regards Yvonne

Re: Oles Camp with Will Baddeley
Great thread, thanks posting the pictures.
I like the pine especially. You said it's a red pine. Could you give the scientific genus and species of that pine?
Up here in Wisconsin we call Pinus Resinosa, Red Pine. Is it a Japanese Red pine, etc.
Thanks

Hi Gary
I dont know who call the pine a red pine? I dont think we have any japanese redpines in Denmark, never heard of it.....if it is Wills demo you talk about , is it a Pinus Sylvestris, collected in Norway or Sweden....It turned out really nice
Kind regards Yvonne

Re: Oles Camp with Will Baddeley
Was a good student, and did my homework....
I could not help my self...had to finish the tree ( off )?....This is my versions of a corner, and the top
This is how the tree look from the front now.....From this side is the tree comming gently towards the viewer, the roots show nice corners, and the taper is nice..
The 2 sides
The backside needed to have some rotten deadwood thinned out...it is now done and treated with woodharder
My plan is to place the tree in a larger container ( as the tree is compleetely rootbound now )for about a year or two....let it grow, not unchecked, and try to build op a new believeable top. before finding a european pot.
Will....If you hate what I did, as you know, I am a novice into deadwood...please pm. me, and I bring the tree to the next workshop to have it corrected, instead of the paere, who need.....
Kind regards Yvonne
