1 year from a cutting!
Today is this trees birthday. Cut and potted 5 days before the birth of my son.
Last year this was just an arm size cutting. As you can see the growth rate is astonishing. Just started the carving work. Tomorrow I will extend the dead section up the trunk to blend the two sections together more.
The first picture is the cutting as it was after potting.

SAM,, You say from a cutting ? do you mean without roots just a limb ?? amazing growth,,I can not tell what it is please explain.. what ever that is great.. take care john

Hi John, Yeah just a limb, no roots. The pot is overflowing with them now though already.

Most Willows (Salix) will root from limb cuttings if you keep them soaking wet. Water steeped in willow wood can be used as a rooting hormone for trickier subjects too.

Isn't this one of the ways this willow propagates itself? Heavy branches drop off into the water, get carried downstream and then root where they get stuck.
