How much fertilizer should I give my tropicals? I'm using Miracle Gro and was wondering how far to go with it and how often. Living in Naples where tropicals thrive outside all year long. I want to speed up the growing process, as does everyone, what's the secret? Am I using the wrong kind?

I have learned not to pontificate at people on other planets, so I can't be too specific. Ask other members of the local bonsai club.
Miracle-Gro is fine, but I wouldn't use it as a steady diet. It is high in nitrogen, which will give you lush leafy growth. Alternate with other fertilizers that have more phosphorus & potash. There is no magic bullet to make plants grow faster than normal. Just provide the best all round conditions. Follow the directions on the fertilizer package. As a supplement to liquid fertilizers, I also use a small amount of Osmocote.
