Dragon Acer workshop
Good day at the Dragons den today and considering the weather not a bad turn out.
The day was dedicated to Acers and was supposed to cover some different types including tridants and feild maples but they will have to wait for another day as we only got to do Japanese mountain maples.
We tried to cover the maitanance of well developed trees, eg, watering, feeding etc. The greater part of the day was used to try to understand how each of us deal with pruning in spring, summer and late summer with relation to back budding and producing ramification.

Re: Dragon Acer workshop
Its strange to be in the Dragon environment using a flip chart and drawing diagrams! However its the best way to show how to prune the new growth being at this time of year we have missed the event as such

Hi Bryan,
Yes it was a good day at the den, Its crazy to think that in the best part of 5 hours and we only covered Japanese maples! but what was great was to get things drumed into everyone again, taking out the middle bud in spring, then dealing with the growth that that creates in mid summer and the way that action is delt with in late summer.
So that's it now we all know everything about Japanese maples!!!!!!!!!!!!
OK We will have another session next year
Regards Chris
