STRANGE LITERATI Empty STRANGE LITERATI

Post  Robert Steven Tue Dec 27, 2011 3:21 pm

This is a Premna with very strange lines. I found it very challenging and might turn into a unique literati. Very hard to find a suitable container for it to obtain nice composition with good visual balance, especially because of the very unusual base position...let's see how it goes with the natural rock container...

Hi Robert.
from the first picture I thought is was just a foot or two feet high, but it is a monster literati. The rock pot is nice too, but a bigger size I think will suit it best.

Thanks for sharing.

jun Smile

Yes Jun, that's why I bought it...for nothing because no one wanted it.. Laughing
I am not satisfied yet with the container and still try to figure out; but for sure not with normal ceramic pot. Any idea ?..or maybe I should order the container from you then... Very Happy

Strange indeed, rotating though did help make it more interesting.
If it doesn't work out you can make big cuttings from it. Smile

Same here! I always assume those premna are small, what a surprise. Crap, I just remembered the P. japonica in my parents' yard - forgot to look at it. I'll be back in January.

Hello Robert

I can see a piece of art in it....not just a bonsai.
Planted together with (or better to say through) an old rusty plate.
The pot is hidden behind the plate.
Maybe you like it.

Kind regards
Martin

Thanks for the great idea....

Robert,

Very nice composition. It reminds me of some natural premna trees I saw in Dream Land Beach, Bali. Unfortunately, Suharto's son ruined the natural/rugged beauty of Dream Land to turn it into a cement resort!!

Carlos

I absolutely love this - but I am sure I can hear the sound of the purists turning in their graves somewhere. So what? You have created something novel and, as Rob says, innovative.

It reminds me somehow of a praying mantis.

Dear Robert,

A Bonsai hanging on the wall is really a very unique idea, mind if I borrow that idea? Laughing

Btw, keep posting your materials, I love them all!

Derrick,

In China, it's called Bigua Penjing (Wall-hanging penjing).
Here what I did for my Pemphis which I sent for the 2005 BCI Convention in China and won the Bronze Award.

Is there a definite date already for Robert's visit here so that I could mark it on my calendar?

Hello Robert

You are very welcome....
Great idea Martin. How if I make the plate in irregular shape with some contour and bends..then I can hang it on the wall....
Great idea Robert. Personally I would stay with the square shape of the plate, I like the strong contrast in it. But this is something to one's taste and also the design of the bonsaigarden/-area.

If you have a red-cyan 3D glasses, you will be able to view the below picture in 3D image with clear perspective...
A very nice idea....but I haven't one!

@fiona
It reminds me somehow of a praying mantis.
Oh yes, me too! I was thinking to put something like a "mantis sratch/-draw" onto the plate Smile

@jun
How about returning the tree to its natural habitat...a cliff.
Wow ...great drawing...very nice! This will look great, too!

Kind regards
Martin
