Lewis put together his stone display
It represents a nomad wondering in the heat of the Lagibi desert disgarding his drinking vessel as his water runs out

Nice display

The japanese maple is spectacular. I see some red leaves, early autumn color, or is this deshojo or red leaf cultivar?

Firstly, I'd like to echo Bob's thanks to Chris and the gang.

As previously mentioned, Bob bought a little Mame, root over rock Ribes in the auction from Smithy for the princely sum of £14 (!).

After some due consideration and discussion on the one hour journey back to chez Cooper, Bob had decided what he wanted to do with the tree in terms of style and pot. Then Bob, Ritta and I set about implementing the plan :-

He’s the tree as bought …..

Dragon Bonsai Boot sale and auction Bobs_r11

After teasing the tree out of it’s pot…

Dragon Bonsai Boot sale and auction Bobs_r12

After a slight restyle and planting it at a different angle, here it is in it’s new, shallower, Walsall Ceramics pot.

Dragon Bonsai Boot sale and auction Bobs_r13

Bob’s next task will be a little wiring of the twigs.

Hi Chris, Dragon bonsai.
Once again, a great weekend of bonsai.
Thank you to all involved. It gave me the true, "joy of bonsai"
With the many great deals in the boot sale and auction and sharing and building our passion for all things bonsai with old and new bonsai buddies over the two days. The weather behaved it self as well. sunny
So, with ego's left at the gate and fun and sharing at full tilt. I know this event can only be good for the art of bonsai.
(The only down side was when I let slip the world cup England score. Sorry Gerwyn. Sad )

My personal thanks to:
- Malcolm for all his knowledge and time.
- Mark and Ritta for your good advice in all matters.
- Lewis for his viewing stone display. thumbs up and for adding up under pressure. I'm looking forwards to visiting your garden this week.
- All the Dragon boyz for your open and fun approach to our art.
- Bob B. You make me smile and cough most of Sunday. I'll take good care of the stand. Thanks mate.
- The Glyn Deri doyz. Good to hear we are on the same page.
- Julie for the lunch. Brian and his fine cowpie. When the history of Welsh bonsai is written, there will be chapter on cowpie and it's important role in the art of bonsai. Laughing
- John Pitt for his advice on pots and trees.
Finally,
I would like to say, "Chris Thomas, we and bonsai are all blessed to be associated with you, my friend."

Thanks to everyone for your replies.

Thanks to all the people that made the weekend happen, it is very humbling to think that people come from such distances to support us, Wessex, Swindon, Warminster, Devon and of course the wilds of Wales.

It was a good day Morea, and a pity you missed it. On the up side we will see you at BURRS, and I hear you might be thinking of showing at Marks Accent show next year in Bristol?

Looks like yet another successful event, lads. As usual, I was otherwise engaged.....ie, I was cooking myself beside the pool in Crete. I'm sure you wait for me to be elsewhere before you schedule these things, you swines! A trip to Dragon and one of your auctions/boot sales is high up on my bucket list, so you won't escape me for long......

A lovely little Ribes there, Bob, and a definate improvement so far.

And Smithy......I'd have given you £15!
