The passing of Alice Greaves

Post  Chris Cochrane on Mon May 18, 2009 2:25 pm

Opening email this morning, I received a message from Jim Greaves distributed by Larry & Nina Ragle, yesterday:
Dear Friends of Alice,

My ‘rock’ passed away earlier today, Sunday, May 17th, after an incredible 27+ day fight. It may sound fanciful, but Alice actually did die peacefully in my arms as I was assuring her that it would be okay if she “started up the river ahead of me ... and to just mark any good stones ... that I would follow and pick them up as soon as I could get our bags together”.

Through her ordeal I read all your messages and cards to her.

Hopefully she heard them; they did bring comfort to me. Thank you all for your love and support.

Still Her Guy, Jim
Alice Nihei Greaves seldom demanded attention yet invariably drew attention. She viewed stones & life without guile and drew others to appreciate true values. I think of Alice with Jim and hope to visit with Alice, again, through him.

If you'd like to reach Jim, here are his home & email addresses:
1018 Pacific Street, Suite C

Alice at the National Bonsai & Penjing Museum in June 2008:

... visit the U.S. National Bonsai & Penjing Museum, Washington DC USA--
