Hello Lee. I tend to use the rapid growth you get on Junipers. If left unpruned, areas will shoot quickly and I remove these in late Spring early Summer. I tend to make heel cuttings. These are side twids torn down from the branch. The torn section is made neat with a sharp pair of scissors and then placed in a pot with well draining compost and sand. I use a taller pot that is half filled with compost and the cuttings go into that. Then clingfilm or a sheet of glass is laid over the top to keep the cuttings moist.
