The beautiful fruit from China.
Chinese name 老鸦柿

My blog

Hope you like it.

Diospyros rhombifolia Hemsl is a very beautiful view of fruit species
Ornamental fruit trees than it is on behalf of bonsai,
When autumn winds send the occasion,
Hanging dolphin hanging fruit rosy slender branches,
Show the beautiful mountain setting.
I like planting flowers since childhood,
Familiar with the habits of many flowers,
Until the later obsession with bonsai,
Tree stumps in numerous handling,
Finally impressed by Diospyros rhombifolia Hemsl .
Why?
Because its behavior is very robust, simple maintenance culture, to cold, heat, dry, wet, variety, color and variety of fruit, not only to reward fruit, leaves after the cold attitude is beautiful.

It is a deciduous shrub
Bark gray to brown,
Leaf paper,
Flowers white,
Dioecious,
Female flowers usually solitary axillary,
Male students generally several flower together,
Occasional hermaphrodite,
However, rare
Generally male majority,
Female flowers scattered,
But not necessarily out of female flowers per year;
And some individual female flowers without pollination can result
However, no seeds inside the fruit.

For a long time, not horticulture attention, has been in a wild state.
As a gardening enthusiast, I am very deplored the backwardness of domestic basic research, deplores the currently outstanding bonsai trees on a lack of systematic arrangement, many good varieties can not promotion;
And general lovers of the limited knowledge of species, the lack of basic concepts of breeding,
Often miss the best discovery and retention of fixed lines, or willing to nurture outstanding varieties do not get anywhere, very unfortunate.
Industry in China, it can be a negative example, and our books on bonsai flowers, bonsai fruit tree species on the introduction, few see its introduction, even if there is, is fragmentary, but the area before.
When I cultivated it, and no information can refer to the consultation, trial and error, in the hope that cultural conservation is simple, fruit, cold outstanding superb attitude more tree species introduced to the fans.

Hi Shiftengbonsai,

Thank you for the link to your blog.
Diospyros is indeed a rare species for most of us in the west i think, but very suitable for bonsai.
Is this your nursery we see on the images?
I am a bit puzzeled it seems you are planting pine shoots directly in to the ground is that correct?
regards, Sunip;)
