THIS IS HOW WE DO IT (DUTCH CARBID NEW YEAR CELEBRATION)!

HI everybody,
I cant wait for it to become midnight so we can start with our (load) New Years celebration. Not to light some normal fire work, but to light up some Dutch traditional Carbid shooting! Some Carbid in old iron milk container that is planted firmly in the ground, than ad some water to the Carbid, than jam in a footbal, basketball or watermelon in the opening of the container (like you can see in the first few seconds of clip). Wait a few seconds so that the water and the Carbid can mix and give off its gasses! Than hold a open flam against a hole that is made in the bottom of the milk barrel. And than BOOOOOOM! Some of the balls I shoot made it right into a other neighborhood! It is much louder than regular fire works and sooo much cheaper!
The guy's in the clip that I posted do it big time and use a slightly bigger iron container than we do and they use a little bit more Carbid. Makes for a much bigger BOOOOM! I love it!!! If you hear a distance BANG....it's us!!!!

Hi Todd,
it sure is fun! This video is shoot in a other part of our country. Were I live it is to populated to do such dangerous but wonderful things! Normal Carbid shooting is allowed during the day time on selected places with a lot of space for the projectiles to land, with out knocking some one unconscious! So normally the authorities will allow it and mostly the firefighters are there to help if necessary! While I am writing this our windows are shaking in their frame, because the neighbours are Carbid shooting just a few blocks away from use. With out permission that is!

yes our madness makes up for the smallness of our country! Carbid shooting and avalanche arrows make a hell off a New year celebration! And any evil spirit that decides to stay, at least will go trough his after live being def! And remember we are cheap, double Dutch and that kind of stuff! I can buy a kilo of Carbid for less than 3 Euro! And water is for free, so that is a lot of BOOM for almost nothing!

Here is a other annual DUTCH tradition! It is called "The New Years dive" and on many places along the Dutch coast this growing tradition can be seen. Just to show, that you dont necessarily have to be a Viking from way up North to be a lunatic!
