. . . under the tree but a beautiful stand for my small trees . . .

(The tree is a bougainvillea 'pink pixie' that I already had inside. That's a child's ivory inro and netsuke on the bottom side.)

And then, when I turned from the tree to the window, here is what we see:

The stand is made by David Knittle of (Erie??) Pa. Does anyone have any background info? Jackie got it at Bill's get-together in NY this Sept.

Wow that's a lot of snow for North Carolina. The cold is coming south too. We are forecast to get 3 more nights of freezing weather. Unbelievable.

Actually, all the crappy weather we've been having -- here and in Europe -- is probably attributable to so-called "global warming." A much better and more accurate term is global climate change.

Overall, the world's average temperatures are getting warmer every year. At the same time "weather" (a much different thing than "climate") is getting more and more variable and is becoming very erratic.

Jim, when I grew up on Long Island in New York, we learned the island was formed from a recessional moraine from the glaciers of the ice age. Yet there were no glaciers on top of Connecticut last time I checked, so obviously the earth warmed up and humans probably had nothing to do with it. So the earth's climate changes and will continue to change. The rate may vary but then that's life.

And I love how global warming folk can make any temperature difference part of their argument.
I should try that logic on some other topics. Playing golf and a guy hits a big slice out of bounds. You didn't slice that you encountered trajectory change, what you really had was a reverse hook and its due to the cows f*rting in the pasture. Might work. Laughing Laughing Laughing
