Re: Mathias-French daiza carver
hello,
I'm new on your forum; please excuse my english, I'm french. I live in the "Touraine", a central region of France... I have discovered suiseki about one year ago, with the french forum "force et beauté", with Marco, that you know in this forum.
I have made two daiza for the moment with stones send by him (stones from liguria). I'll send photos if you want.
Very beautiful stones in this exhibition, particulary because I like more mountain stones than objects stones for example... The presentation and the epurate decoration of the place is on harmony with the suiseki spirit...
Best regards
mathias

Hi Mathias... Thank you for sharing photos of your daiza. Marco is a very valued member of the IBC forum & among IBC's earliest contributors. Before moving to France, he introduced many of us to Italian bonsai & suiseki as well as to Korean suseok. I hope you will share news of French stone collecting with us... :-)
For a hard-to-mount stone, your first illustrated daiza is very elegant.

Hello littleheart
It's true that with see too much texture on the second daiza. Two reasons : it's oack, not the ideal wood for a daiza (it was the only wood that i have at this moment), and I have not put a "fond dur" (I don't know the word in english, literally "hard back", a chemical produce to mask bumps), before the application of stain. I will trie to make a correction.
I will probably looking for new stones with Marco in June, in south of France, near Liguria. I will show you some pictures if we find interesting stones.
best regards

Hi Mathias
Thanks for your sharing. I love all of it. I would like to know what types of the rocks (The name of the rock or its material)?

The stones are from Liguria and look like examples of their classic Palombino limestone to me.

Thanks for your information, Mr.Kev Bailey. Liguria is a coastal region of north-western Italy. I think so. It is a limestone. It looks like NinhBinh' s limestone in North of Vietnam. I'll post in two days.
