Alnus??
I'm looking after a few trees for a club member for a week or two. When he dropped them off I noticed this nice little Alnus Glutinosa, Common Alder.
I have an Alder myself and, to be honest, took it for granted that it was a Common Alder. On comparing it to this one, I now believe it to be be a Grey Alder, Alnus Incana. Sorry no photo.
I was recently impressed by the Alder in the 'Best of British Bonsai 2009' book owned by Terry Adams and winner of a Certificate of Special Merit. Again I don't have a photo I can legally post. Perhaps someone has a photo from the show.
I would love to see a few more Alder Bonsai if anyone cares to post them on this thread.

Re: Alnus??
Amazing little tree Ian, your friend should be proud. Can you possibly tell me how tall this tree is? I have recently purchased a large piece of stock and the main issue In my mind was leaf size.
Thanks.
Thanks.

I like your tree and the great nebari.
Alder don't grow in Florida so I can't share any photos though.

Well, maybe not your part of Florida. Alnus serrulata is plenty of the northern counties...

But I can't share any photos either!

Re: Alnus??
Wow, thought it was larger, credit to the owner. The tree I have purchased will stand roughly three times as tall. So I guess the leaves won't be an issue at all.
Love to get some more notes on the care of this tree from the owner if it's possible, though I imagine they are similar to birch and beech??
Thanks for posting this up once again, lovely.
