Re: Shohin Cotoneaster.
Looking better.
With the root problem and growing on the apex, this will be a good'un in 5 years

Hi Will,
Really nice tree and great choice of pot.
I'd love to see it in winter with a few red berries on it - if you can keep the birds away from them.
Hello Paul. I noticed today the flower buds are popping everywhere. Will post when they open.

Re: Shohin Cotoneaster.
Will, don't hate me for this...
I love the tree AND the pot - but not together. It's too deep and not wide enough for my eye. I don't think it does a short, fat tree like this any favors. I love the color of this pot, but I would have gone with your other choice.
Also, the long branch on the right side is too long for me. It makes the tree too symetrical and if it were mine I'd shorten it just a bit. Go back to page one, I like it better there.
Since no one else picked up on this I guess it's just me.

Hello Russell. "Don't hate you for this"... Where do I start! . I do agree that the pot is a little deep but I am happy with the width of it.
I know what you mean about the length of the branch and I am letting it run a bit to help thicken it up, as I am with all the branches. I will shorten back, leaf prune and re wire once it has flowered.

Re: Shohin Cotoneaster.
The tree would look very nice in both pots... but I am leaning towards the blue one. Maybe because of the flowers and the red berries.

Re: Shohin Cotoneaster.
The glaze of the pot suits the tree very well...
I see what you mean when you say its a bit deep but it is fine for the branch development
Lovely little tree!!

Thankyou Suburbia and Stavros. Your right, the depth of the pot will help with development.

Thanks Yan. Even though the flowers don't open far, I always seem to get a load of Berries. Just loaded these and some more to my blog.

Re: Shohin Cotoneaster.
Nice work as always Mr B!!!
All mine are of the same variety with the small redish flower. A real shame that they don't "show" more but at least we do get a bumper crop of berries (if I can keep the birds away!)
I really should update my Cotoneaster posts as most of them have come on alot in the last year.
Must try harder
