Two myrtus communis yamadori
Hello my friends,
I come here to show my last two aquisitions, they are myrtus communis recovered from a council park that was beeing thinned out to cut down on maitenance man hours, due to the crisis (i supose), but anyhow, i hapenned to be gooing past, when this two particular shrubs were beeing loaded in to the lorry that was taking them to the shreader, and politly ask if i could have them, i was told -pity you were not here for the two last loads, take them...
And i thoght that it is a true pity that this excelent material just gets destroied for lack of better knoledge, but at least, those two are going to get a second chance, here are some pictures of the shrubs on arrival at my space, and also after thinning out and for last after stripping down to bare minimum and present recovery, i am excedingly happy with the present condition, and believe those two are in for glorious futures, judge by yourselves...

Hi Ferdy-san
Nice material there. What mix did you use? Is this the first time that you have treated myrtus so drastically or was it an emergency trial? Are you going to plastic cover them? Thanks for sharing and keep us posted.

Hello Will,
thank you for your response, i will keep posting the progress.
Hello Cosmos,
as a matter of fact, it is my first experience with Myrtus, the radical treatment was necessary to stop as much as possible the evaporation thru the leafs, the substract is 5o% turf and 50% thick river sand, those plants have been in my care for about a month now, and all the green that can be seen is new growth, i have those two plants in a spot were they get lots of light, but no direct sunlight, and the plastic over the top was only used in the first two weeks after arrival, at the moment the new shoots cover some areas of the plants, like moss almost, all i have done is water daily, and pray to Venus,

Thank you for your response. We usually use perlite and pumice and it also works. Leave them in light shade as yet ubtil good long shoots are all over the place. I will say a little prayer also.

Hi Ferdy-san,
I've collected a few Myrtus and i've used red vulcanic, with pomice and a bit of organic matter so it improves from the start the nutrients uptake. This have given me so far the best results. I would advise You though, next time to stay with the basic structure right from the start.
Best greetings,
Gustavo
