NEED HELP FOR STARTER

um i was wondering if i should buy a japenese maple starter or a ficus starter , or just start from the seeds thnks for helping

Hello Dinomash and welcome to the forum. There's no reason why you can't use both methods. You can start with a Fig or Japanese maple to get to grips with tecnique and horticultural skills and plant some seeds as well. Seeds once germinated, can be grown in the ground to beef them up a bit. Local bonsai clubs are a good way forward as well.

It depends, somewhat, on what part of Australia you're from. If you live in the hotter parts of the country, the maple probably will not do well in a pot, and I'd go for the fig. If you live in the cooler part, the maple will be fine and the fig will be a bit iffy -- unless you want to grow trees indoors (always unwise in MY opinion). Others disagree -- but it's always more difficult.

I dare you to say that in Central NY!
If I didn't grow trees & orchids indoors, what would I do from October to April? I can't ski.
I'm not going to win any prizes for my indoor bonsai (probably my outdoor ones as well), but last week one of my orchids, which spends the winter under fluorescent lights, received a Certificate of Cultural Merit from the American Orchid Society, so it can be done without a greenhouse or living in Florida.
