Purpleleaf Sand Cherry

Just wondering if anyone has any experience with this cultivar....I have received permission to collect one from the property of our favorite local Chinese restaurant in town. The top of the tree has died back and was cut out by the owner. The trunk has character and several branches have sprouted and grown close to the soil level...I know it is too late to collect this year as the tree has already leafed out.

Any advice would be appreciated.
