Very nice windswept Will. I love it!
sign up again for the next six months for the pot...IMHO an oval flat pot (unglazed please) will do or an overextended slab, up to the chest area to get the right proportion...hehehehehe!
and Oh! don't keep it bareroot for a long time. Keep it moist all the time while not potted yet.

jun

I have no tat's and have never had a desire to get one, but a really intersting thread non the less, I enjoyed seeing all your works of art.
Smithy, that picture of you in Dehli is brilliant. I can almost feel the atmosphere, noise and smell in it, like I'm there over your shoulder. A really good photo!

Howzit Guys,
I thought I'd jump in the fray and share my tattoos and story. But before that I must say that there are a lot of really nice art work on this post. Good on you mates!!
Tattoos and skin markings are part of the Polynesian and Filipino culture. In the Philippines they practice a form of martial arts called Eskrima (also known as Arnis and Kali) is a weapons based martial arts. It is the national sport of the Philippines and has a very long history of combat effectiveness. I learned this art from my father and he's friends. When the Filipinos came to Hawaii to work the sugar plantations a lot of them were "Eskrimadors" or Filipino warriors. The tattoos on the upper part of the arm are of two Eskrimadors engaged in battle. Now, if you look at the arm band you see a marking in between the "V". That marking is carved into the bottom of a rattan stick. It has two folds, to give more grip to the rattan stick and two, the Filipinos call that symbol "Anting Anting". In its revolutions and wars, in the recurrent struggles of the poor and marginalized against the invaders and colonizers, in the conflicts and skirmishes against the rich oppressors the anting-anting has been the essential part of the Filipino battle gear, fueled by the belief that its spiritual and magical powers will provide invincibility, protection or the edge that would shift the imbalances of power into parity. And that's my story.
A Hui Hou,

Re: Show us your tattoos
very nice Tim...
You are more Filipino than I am.
"Eskrima" is for arnis or sword/knife fighting, while the form of martial arts is called "kali". Kali is one of the deadliest form of martial arts, It's main aim is to kill an opponent with shear brutality. It still being practiced here by the elite force of the armed forces. "Anting anting" is a magical charm or amulet...I still got some passed on to me by my grandfather, from his great grandfather. hehehe.
Thanks for the info and a very nice nice story of your tattoo.

Howzit Will,
Nice job mate!! That's a three thumbs-up. I really like the detail on the tree. It looks 3-D and well worth the time.
